Shachar Zemach , 39, was a third-generation Be'eri resident and CFO of the local printing press. He raised his children, Ella, 4, and Neta, 2.5, with wife Ofri in the kibbutz, where his parents and siblings live. On October 7, when sirens sounded, they expected another military operation and planned to join family in Kibbutz Tzuba. But when a suspected infiltration occurred, the security team was called. Ofri told Shahar: “We can’t leave. You have to go.”
